Hydrodynamic backreaction force of cosmological bubble expansion

چکیده

As a promising probe for the new physics beyond standard model of particle in early Universe, predictions stochastic gravitational wave background from cosmological first-order phase transition heavily rely on bubble wall velocity determined by expansion dynamics. The dynamics is governed competition between driving force effective potential difference and backreaction sum thermal friction induced temperature jumping out-of-equilibrium effects across wall, respectively. In this paper, we propose hydrodynamic evaluation total nonrunaway steady-state expansion, which, after evaluated at interface, exactly reproduces pressure ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Delta}}}_{\text{wall}}[({\overline{\ensuremath{\gamma}}}^{2}\ensuremath{-}1)w]$ obtained previously junction condition energy-momentum tensor where $w$ enthalpy $\overline{\ensuremath{\gamma}}\ensuremath{\equiv}(1\ensuremath{-}{\overline{v}}^{2}{)}^{\ensuremath{-}1/2}$ Lorentz factor wall-frame fluid $\overline{v}$.

Gravitational backreaction in cosmological spacetimes

We develop a new formalism for the treatment of gravitational backreaction in the cosmological setting. The approach is inspired by projective techniques in non-equilibrium statistical mechanics. We employ group-averaging with respect to the action of the isotropy group of homogeneous and isotropic spacetimes (rather than spatial averaging), in order to define effective FRW variables for a gene...

On the onset of cosmological backreaction

Cosmological backreaction has been suggested as an explanation of dark energy and is heavily disputed since. We combine cosmological perturbation theory with Buchert’s non-perturbative framework, calculate the relevant averaged observables up to second order in the comoving synchronous gauge, and discuss their gauge dependence. With the help of an integrability condition the leading second orde...

Gauge invariant averages for the cosmological backreaction

We show how to provide suitable gauge invariant prescriptions for the classical spatial averages (resp. quantum expectation values) that are needed in the evaluation of classical (resp. quantum) backreaction effects. We also present examples illustrating how the use of gauge invariant prescriptions can avoid interpretation problems and prevent misleading conclusions.

A Small Cosmological Constant and Backreaction of Non-Finetuned Parameters

We include the backreaction on the warped geometry induced by non-finetuned parameters in a two domain-wall set-up to obtain an exponentially small Cosmological Constant Λ4. The mechanism to suppress the Cosmological Constant involves one classical fine-tuning as compared to an infinity of finetunings at the quantum level in standard D=4 field theory.

Measurement of hydrodynamic force generation by swimming dolphins using bubble DPIV.

Attempts to measure the propulsive forces produced by swimming dolphins have been limited. Previous uses of computational hydrodynamic models and gliding experiments have provided estimates of thrust production by dolphins, but these were indirect tests that relied on various assumptions. The thrust produced by two actively swimming bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) was directly measured...
